Silence makes us better listeners. It allows us to understand our surroundings more deeply. In silence, chaos becomes more comprehensible. But silence doesn’t mean suppressing our voices or opinions.

Nature—and the universe—speak. They are not silent. They speak truth. They are not boastful. Nature follows its path and allows nothing to hinder it. It flows naturally. Let us learn from nature.

Communication is imperative.

So why do many quote the saying:

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt”?

Often, this is used by critics or competitors—those who don’t understand, or who fear having their views contradicted—to diminish others. While there are times this saying may apply to the pompous, more often, it is used to silence.

If you know the truth and it needs to be said, speak out. Even if you’re not a skilled speaker or charismatic personality, don’t let that stop you. Don’t let critics put you down. Be like nature. Speak the truth.

When it comes to children, allow them to express their minds. Teach them prudence as they do. Don’t suppress their voice. Doing so risks scarring them, perhaps even pushing them into a life of introversion.
